Plot: Bungling secret agent Maxwell Smart, also known as Agent 86 for CONTROL, is on a mission to battle the forces of their evil crime nemesis known as KAOS with his more-competent partner Agent 99, (whose real name is never revealed) at his side. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreams of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23. Smart will do whatever it takes to thwart the latest plot for world domination by KAOS.

Review: For those of us who have seen the original tv series, there isn’t a lot of difference between the role played by Steve Carell in comparison to the old version with Don Adams, the differences being voice, the film being in colour (as opposed to the tv series being in black and white and in colour).

The movie wasn’t to bad, it had it’s moments and was amusing enough to keep me awake and filling my face with popcorn and post mix coke. Carell filled the shoes well and there was some cameo roles from the old actors in the film, aso featuring Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) but he seemed out of place at some stages of the movie. Wait for tight arse Tuesdays to see this one, dvd, or download it.

IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0441773/

Plot: It’s the story about a lazy, irreverent slacker panda, named Po, who is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around…which doesn’t exactly come in handy while working every day in his family’s noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po’s dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five — Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey — under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart - and his girth - into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.

Review: A decent animation, I don’t mind seeing these from time to time to break up all the other movies. Has a fair few well known names as voices, and also some voices you’ll recognise of some not so famous actors. Jack Black stars as the Panda (Po), but you’ll also hear voices of Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan, David Cross, Michael Clarke Duncan (the big mofo from The Green Mile), Seth Rogen (one of the cops from Superbad). The list keeps going…

Plot: When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest’s questionable visions send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women’s disappearance. Its a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere…and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!

Review: I’ve seen a fair few X-Files episodes since they started, going into this one I put 2 and 2 together. 4 = more aliens. Instead they gave me 5. The only twist to this movie is that it wasn’t about aliens (sorry to spoil it for you). While the plot was solid and you could sit there and watch through it, it wasn’t going to raise any eyebrows (maybe if Scully got her kit off it might change things).
Billy Connoly played a good role as a peadophile priest who has visions towards dead and dying people (Great mix hey?). I wouldn’t spend your money on going to see this, wait for the torrent.

The Dark Knight

Torrent: Get off you’re fucking arse and go see it.

Plot: With just one year passed after taking out Ra’s Al Ghul’s plan to have Gotham eliminated and the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Jonathan Crane AKA the Scarecrow, after the city was nearly plundered with his toxins, Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter-ego the Batman, continue the seemingly-endless effort to bring order to Gotham, with the help of Lt. James Gordon and newly appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent, but a new threat has now emerged into the streets. The Dark Knight faces a rising psychopathic criminal called The Joker, who’s eerie grin, laughter, and inhuman morality makes him more dangerous than what he has yet to unleash. It becomes an agenda to the Batman to stop the mysterious Joker at all cost, knowing that the both of them are in the opposite line. One with no method at all and seeks to see the world plunge into the fire he has yet to lit. One who represents the symbol of hope and uses his own shadow to bring the peace and order he has yet to accomplish on doing.

Review: A lot of hype went into this with it being the last full feature Heath Ledger acted in before his death, rightly so it was one hell of a movie. While Heath Ledger is tipped to get the promesthus oscar award and should get it. He would still be in contention for an Oscar if he hadn’t have died, he was simply fucking terrifying in the movie. He makes Hannibal look like Eddie Murphy in Dr Dolittle.
The movie is a lengthy one, touching over the 2 hours mark, but it doesn’t drag out and bore you to tears. The plot stays solid with plenty of action, there were a few scenes which pushed into that bullshit era with Kilmer and Clooney to root up the old movies and make them look like something from the Nickelodeon channel, but I got over that quickly.
It’s dark, full of action, solid actors and plot so you should enjoy it. Go out and see it, as a fan of dark/gothic movies (but not shit B grade ones) I liked this a lot. They also venture out of Gotham City overseas for some shooting of the film.
