HP ProBook 5310m
Just doing a quick post from a laptop we have in at work for testing. It’s a HP ProBook 5310m, a nice little laptop with no DVD drive in it. Similary specced to a 13″ Mac Book Pro, without the slot loading drive. I’ve noticed while typing this blog post the space bar does need some what of a good thump some times to make it work. I don’t know if this is due to it being a demo model with some use or a design problem. Other than that its a nice notebook for around the $700-$800 mark.
04.12.10I must confess
I spent a lot of time reading articles on uncluttering and simplifying life. But honestly, if there are so many people who have the time to do this, they don’t have anything better to do! They spend hours cleaning out things, sorting, throwing things away and all this. But when do you have time to enjoy anything? Or for that matter, when do you find time for things normal people do, like sleep, eat and go to work!
Google Chrome
Of late I’ve been a bit unimpressed with Firefox and Internet Explorer, mainly because they’ve become large resource hogs on system memory. So I jumped back onto Google Chrome to give it a shot and see if it had improved since I first tried it when it came out, and it definitely has. When I first tried it, it just didn’t “feel right”.
Firefox is still my main choice of browser, but it’s just being really slow. But I’ll keep going with Chrome and see how it is, it’s definitely growing on me.
Errr
This blogs looking a bit worse for wear. Time for a new theme with some effort I thinks. At least I found one.
I’d like to get my dev pc up running soon, and this new domain with custom WP theme on it too!
Theme Change
As you can see, I’ve jumped back to my old theme temporarily. I want to mod the other one I’ve been using, at the moment it doesn’t show images on the front page which is annoying. I may switch to a portfolio style theme soon however.

“For every fix that a Windows Update patches, the update will break two more things on your PC.” –Darren Gladstone, PC World
Hmmm… this new theme…
Definately needs some colour somewhere.
09.29.09Car had a service
Well, I had my car go in for a service this morning. It’s been overdue by a good 20,000kms. Which is how much I’ve driven it in a year!
Took it to the same guys who replaced my front suspension earlier this year.
Service
Change oil and filter
Checked brakes and fitted new pads (pads I’d supplied)
Rotated Tyres
Checked all fluid levels and lights
Parts supplied
Engine oil and filter
Globe for the rear tail light (that I already knew was blown)
Topped up lubes
+ Labour
$210.30.
Pretty good if you ask me, I’ve been told the cooling system is in poor condition. The hoses will need to be replaced and radiator cleaned out. Also I get vibration in the steering wheel when driving and need the brake discs machine, but I already knew this! I think their quote for that was fairly expensive though. 10,000kms left in the rear disc pads before they need replacing too.

I’m the only person in the country with that decal
